Hi everyone! It's Wednesday night here right now in this humid part of the globe. As I type this post out, the whir of the electric fan serves as my background "music." For some reason, I find it hard to sleep without turning on the electric fan, even during cold, rainy nights. The whirring sound helps drive me to blissful sleep. The good Lord knows how much I need a lot of those nowadays.

I don't have an air conditioner because of a simple equation: aircon = high power bill. I survived this long without an air conditioned bedroom, I'm pretty sure I can bear the punishing Philippine heat for many years more.

Speaking of 'surviving', my father has pretty much survived on one good eye for two years now. His other eye has been ravaged by glaucoma, and he's been suffering from eye pain almost everyday since.

But an end to his visual ordeal is in the horizon, as we got word from the Eye Bank in Manila a couple of days ago that he is now in the top 10 list for a cornea donor (Thank you Lord!). Soon as we get a match, my Dad will undergo corneal transplant.

The procedure is usually carried out on an outpatient basis, but considering my Dad's age (74) and his asthma and allergy to aspirin, his Doc wants him to be admitted before the surgery, as well as a couple of days afterward.

Now from reading this post, I know you can't tell the tumultuous emotions stirring between the lines. But trust me when I say that I will never have a fitful night's sleep until after my father successfully 'survives' this transplant. When it comes to my parents, I easily freak out, and all this waiting for a tissue donor is simply torturous. I have been thinking that if I freak out this easily over my parents, how much more over my kids when I become a parent myself?

Anyway, I'm telling you all this because my Dad's situation was sort of the "inspiration" behind today's freebie. The freebie the first of my Rough Cuts series- doodles on roughly cut papers. This pack contains positive words that uplift, and nowadays under such gloomy economic times, I believe we need to focus on that which will give us hope that all these too shall pass, just as the Bible said.

The freebie is for personal use only, as I used textures from some really talented digiscrap designers.

By the way, I posted on my sidebar a .pdf of my Terms of Use for personal use and commercial use. It's a direct link, so just click on the links and the .pdf page will automatically open.

Please croak in my comments area if you like this freebie. Can't you tell I am desperate for some interaction in this blog? :-)

Rachelle - These are perfectly timed and great quality. Thanks so much! We've got our own need for encouragement here - I find focusing on the end result really helps. Imagine the day your faith becomes tangible and your daddy gets those "new eyes". Focus on that moment and start to plan for it - how are you going to celebrate?

I hope all has gone well with your father. I'll be praying for him.
